Year In Review

One of my favorite year-end traditions is conducting a review!

As a family, we take the time to reflect on the past year, engaging in meaningful conversations that allow us to share and celebrate significant moments we've captured forever in our memories and perhaps even in photographs or videos. This practice of reflection serves as a way to reminisce about joyful occasions and as an opportunity to delve deeper into our experiences, helping us learn more about one another in profound ways.

College Graduation!

We explore our individual successes, whether personal achievements, academic milestones, or professional advancements, and discuss the challenges we faced along the way, including obstacles that tested our resilience and determination. Through this sharing, we uncover valuable lessons that each of us has learned, which can provide insights and wisdom for our future endeavors.

Furthermore, we engage in a series of final questions designed to help us articulate our hopes and aspirations for the upcoming year and identify areas where we can improve as individuals and as a collective unit. This dialogue not only shapes the tone for the year ahead but also fosters a sense of unity and support among us. Understanding each other's perspectives and feelings can create an environment where everyone feels valued and encouraged to pursue their goals. Ultimately, this reflective practice strengthens our family bond and equips us to face the new year with a shared commitment to growth, empathy, and mutual support.

Various templates are available, encouraging even our youngest or most hesitant family members to join in. Over time, I've discovered that offering a bit of autonomy fosters more enthusiastic participation. There are no limitations or sarcastic remarks about who can fill out which form. The fastest way to undermine this is through sarcasm or belittling someone's input. No matter your chosen template, the Year in Review focuses on connecting, sharing, and building family memories.
