International Women's Day

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day dedicated to celebrating the achievements and contributions of women throughout history. It is also a day to raise awareness about the challenges and inequalities women continue to face in various aspects of life. International Women's Day is observed annually on March 8; however, activities occur throughout the month. Below are a few opportunities to celebrate the day.

The Junior League of New Orleans celebrates International Women's Day on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the New Orleans Marriott Arts District Hotel with a Women's Summit for all women striving to grow personally and professionally while impacting the communities they serve. Loyola University New Orleans invites visitors to campus in March for a special celebration of women on International Women's Day, a global day celebrating women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. This year's International Women's Day event serves as a call to action to inspire inclusion. Loyola's International Women's Day event takes place from 8:30–10:30 am on March 7 in the St. Charles Room of the Danna Student Center on Loyola's main campus, 6363 St. Charles Ave. New Orleans, La. 70118. All are welcome. Registration costs $50. Free parking is available in the West Road parking garage. Light breakfast and beverages will be served at the event.
